One week ago in the topographically isolated northwest part of the park, along the kings above Pine Flat Lake. The California poppies in full, probably half-century bloom – better than any year I have seen, or in any postcard for that matter, than Antelope Valley at its peak. The mountains miles away in the distance had so many poppies they turned from green to gold.
Thanks. They are just iphone photos. My good camera was buried in the back of my friend's pickup truck with the fishing gear. I did manage to get him to stop for a second without either of us loosing our "man card" by suggesting his "wife" probably would like a picture. ;-)
But there were miles and miles of road, and miles and miles into the distance where the poppies were going crazy.
