the theme of my list was simple, cheap and minimalist for overnight/partial week trips
big 4
pack: rei flash 22 17 oz
bag: hammock gear 20 degree top quilt 18 oz and a sol emergency bivvy 3.5 oz
pad: neoair xlite small with my bag stuffed with gear for legs
shelter: outdoor products tarp 5×7 with 4 titanium stakes and two guylines 10 oz
will be using esbit tabs with aluminum windscreen and rocks for tripod 2 oz
extra pair of socks and thermals 7oz
stainless steel cup (5 oz) will go around one of my 1 liter bottles in a drink puch
extras would be a bic mini lighter a polycro ground sheet, tp and some alcohol pads for hand sanitizer/ fire starter and deoderant
Are you looking for feedback?
If you've done trips with this and know how the setup performs, then disregard all that follows.
I would be cold on an Xlite at 15deg. There isn't enough extra gear in your kit to stuff in your bag to keep your legs warm.
Be very careful about condensation in the emergency bivy.
You are a warm sleeper? Better be with that setup at 15deg. A CCF pad underneath the XLite would be a must for me in this case.
No further rain/snow protection when hiking?
That is a little tarp!
Hey I would greatly appreciate feedback as this is why I posted this for…I have no experience with the Neo air x therm but have used my thermarest ridgarest 2/3 for 1.5 yrs and after looking at the r values the neo air is .6 more. And one other boneheaded mistakes is that I forgot to include my stadium poncho wich ways 2 oz in my list. Also thought about supplementing my sleeping bag with a boiled hot bottle which I have used to get me down to some low temps
