Jan 12, 2012 at 5:23 am #1823678I've never been a member of a hiking group, so I can't answer that question. What I can tell you, however, is that if you're looking for the best hiking that Michigan has to offer, then you have to visit the Upper Peninsula. I highly recommend visiting Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and utilizing the North Country Trail, which spans nearly the entire length of the U.P.

Mar 23, 2012 at 11:14 am #1858243Our next meeting is Thursday, April 5th at the Chippewa Nature Center on Badour Road just West of Midland. We will meet at 6:15pm to take a quick hike and our presentation will start at 7pm. This month is about paddling Canadian rivers and they will be a bit about winter camping and climbing.
For more info or if you have questions, email me at roykranz(then the @ sign)gmail.com.
Aug 28, 2012 at 7:15 pm #1907047Sorry for the delayed response. I too have missed the last two
meetings. Someone else ran them for me. Our next meeting is the
first Thursday evening in October. Not sure what the topic is. Our
guy that was supposed to organize some hikes has dropped the ball. We
have basically just hooked up with people that we have met in the club
informally for hikes. I'm tapped out on vacation time at this point
in the summer so I don't have much planned other than the 85 mile hike
we are attempting to complete in one day in September. Hope to see
you at an upcoming meeting.Aug 29, 2012 at 6:46 am #1907156Hi Roy,
I have added that date to my Outlook, I am tapped out for holidays myself so any trips would have to be at weekends.
Thats 85 miles hike sounds mental.
Cheers,
Stephen
