I see that REI does not currently show the Quarter Dome T2 on their website.
Do you think they are planning a replacement for this tent?
Oct 9, 2011 at 11:59 am #1788422Based on Will Rietveld's and Janet Reichl's summer market report it sounds like there will be.

Also REI's website has info available regarding the 2012 products, including basic specs

Thanks for the info.
Looks like the quarter dome will have a more solid nylon around the bottom than the current model.

Oct 9, 2011 at 8:51 pm #1788651It'll be interesting to see how the new quarterdome works out. The current (I guess previous now) T2 was a good tent. Good weight, reasonable space for 2, pitches nicely, good waterproof floor etc.
Oct 10, 2011 at 8:57 am #1788742They clearanced out all of the T2's and T2 Plus tents, doing the same with the T3's. A friend of mine picked up a T2 for ~$150 after tax and shipping… great deal on the tent.
The new model should have a slightly larger footprint for the same weight. I read this somewhere not too long ago, possibly on REI's site.
edit: based on Adrian's link it looks like the solo is the one that got a bigger footprint.
Oct 11, 2011 at 2:07 pm #1789250and noticed that T2 was on a big clearance toward the front of the store, but I didn't see any tents in the bin under the sign. Certainly gave the appearance of a closeout sale.
I got a T3 as a wedding gift earlier this year. Very nice tent. If you can find one on closeout clearance, it's highly recommended.
