I’ve been wearing Pat. Talus pants for just about ever. Long johns change with the temperature.
Dec 15, 2020 at 1:54 pm #3689196I’d wear the jacket and check it occasionally for abrasion, and if that happened I’d put a strip of duct tape across that area. I’ve worn dri ducks for years and never had an issue other than tears from branches, etc..
Nov 24, 2020 at 4:02 pm #3685577Have you considered hammocks?
Nov 2, 2020 at 2:39 pm #3682027Hi Russ,
I have a Hammock gear Premium Burro 20 that works well on the ground but doesn’t have a draft collar option. I was looking at the Underground Quilt XL Bandit which does have a collar option but for whatever reason decided against it. It looks very nice. I also own a Loco Libre Ghost Pepper 20 but its for hanging only. Too narrow! Your choices look fine but it all comes down to a personal choice after looking at pros and cons.Good luck!
Sep 22, 2020 at 6:15 pm #3677121I’ve been wearing Lone Peaks since V1 and have been disappointed by the fast wear. They seemed to be the only game in town though so I continued to buy . This past spring I bought a pair of NB Fresh Foam Hierras and have been completely satisfied with them. The Vibram soles show little wear with maybe 500 miles on them. The mesh also shows little wear where the Lone Peaks would be ripping already. The wide fit sealed the deal .

Mar 22, 2019 at 12:21 am #3584953I’ve used different brands at different times and all turn oily. I give up on them.I’m going to try some of the suggestions received here. Thanks to all who replied!
Nov 29, 2018 at 1:28 am #3566378Hi asndy,
I recently bought a large belt from GG for $20 that almost fit my Mariposa Plus. I had to do a little ripping and a little sewing but essentially the stays werere perfectly spaced to fit into my old pack.
This made a huge difference with the staays now grounded to the hipbelt.I will be using the pack a whole lot more than i have.
BTW its the large belt for newer than 2011 packs. I think I got my pack in 2102.

May 8, 2018 at 2:17 am #3534232I used “der Schnozzel” exclusively to inflate my xlite and it delaminated after three years. Approx.100 nights. Got a new one two years ago and it’s working well with maybe 30 nights of use.But even Ferrari makes a lemon on occasion I think. The xlites are wonderful for my pinned together back.
Apr 26, 2018 at 10:15 pm #3532388Sara,
If you start from the south and just go as slow/fast as you like and walk the month off you should be fine.
The scenery is wonderful as are the people.

Feb 24, 2018 at 6:31 pm #3520449A small loop of shock cord with a cord lock attached above the bottle holder on your shoulder strap holds the bottle quite well and keeps a taller(1ltr) bottle in place
Dec 2, 2017 at 4:46 am #3505120- Married or otherwise committed, but your spouse/partner doesn’t mind you being away. Lucky you! Sure you might have to carry a Spot or InReach to minimize worry and help maintain the peace, but that’s a small price to pay.
I work at a high school and get summers off . Two months is too long away , one month is doable but I usually stretch it. My wife does her thing and we also take a week or two off together.
Jun 3, 2017 at 7:02 pm #3471289Zack,
I’ve been dealing with something similar for a year now. PT took care of some pain but it still comes and goes. This is what my MD figures my issue is .

Nov 29, 2016 at 8:24 pm #3437889Hiya,
Had the same problem years ago , and found a pair of Dr. Scholls gel inserts. Problem was sol-ved.I’ve used them as my default with the Lone Peaks. This fall I got a set of custom orthotics that i’ll try on the pct ,but will be aware of where i can get the dr. scholls.
The custom orthotics are due to too much kicking into snow on the pct in Oregon. SOBO . Messed up my right ankle badly.Hi Ed!!

Sep 8, 2016 at 6:29 pm #3425043Hi,
Google Steger Camuks. It looks like there’s a bunch of reading for your pleasure.
Jul 23, 2016 at 6:07 pm #3415947The Exped Schnozzel with the Therma rest adaptor will work with BA and Thermarest. At least the BA a friend had and my Neo UL.Saves a lot of huffing and puffing especially at high altitude.I use it to store my quilt in the pack also.
May 30, 2016 at 5:43 pm #3405769Hi Doug,

Just a thought but you should be able to cut your nails with the leatherman
TomLFeb 12, 2016 at 9:34 pm #3381734Roger,
I’ve been saving plastic, resealable cereal bags for the past few years now. As in granola. Many other products come in these type of bags also.Works great for freezer bag cooking.
