So this short video is not a backpacking trip or overnight camping trip,  its simply a day hike on the beach from Robert Moses State park, field 4, up the coast approximately 5 or 6 miles to Ocean Beach, Fire Island.  The vast majority of people going to Fire Island will usually take the Ferry ride from Sayville or Bayshore, Long Island and that is fine, it is a nice boat ride across the bay. However,  be prepared for silly crowds and traffic and no parking anywhere within vicinity of the ferry terminals. Most people do not even realize that it is possible to WALK to Fire Island!! That or most people are just flat out too lazy to take a nice hike along the shore line and put some effort in to walk the 5 or 6 miles to get there. We have done this before, many years ago and so again we decided to spend the beautiful day walking on the beach and destination Fire Island,  Ocean Beach to be exact, for a nice bayside dinner and drinks. Living on Long Island does have its benefits being so close to the ocean, a 20 minute ride, so why not make the best of it. Along the way we passsed an extremely crowded field 5, I did not even bother to film that section because I was quite embarrassed for everyone that was there on top of one another!!! Had they chosen to walk maybe 10 minutes to the left.. towards Fire Island they would have had the beach area to themselves.. or even a 5 minute walk the other direction towards field 4, where we came from… that section between 4 and 5 was solitude also.. but no, the masses want to be near the main entrance and concession stands and crowd in on top of each other!! We also walked passed 2 nude beaches, which I respect 100%. The last time we did this, I did unclothe and swim in the ocean, this time I just walked thru. Anyway,  I did not film that section..but i did record most of our day walking on the beach and thru the quaint towns of Fire Island. It is a beautiful place and the ocean?? Well, I dont have to beef and hype that up at all.. it is what it is! Pure Earth and beauty and mother nature at her most powerful and best!  Nothing fancy here, just a walk to Fire Island and back…
