This is the complete set of guidebooks for the Desert Trail sections in California – from the Mexican border to Nevada. I’ve hiked all these sections now. I’d like to pass these books on to another hiker who will appreciate all the wonder and suffering that comes with hiking the DT.

The Desert Trail is a route that runs from the Mexican border all the way up into Oregon (although Buck Nelson and others have carried on to Canada). The CA sections start near the town of Jacumba, head north through the Anza-Borrego, Joshua Tree NP, the Mojave Desert Preserve and Death Valley NP. You can read my blog posts starting here.

The route was created by the Desert Trail Association (now inactive) in the 1990s. Steve Tabor has the remaining books stockpiled in storage – they are not available anywhere else.

The books are excellent. The route is mapped out on USGS topos that are well-annotated. There are extensive text descriptions of the route as well, including info on water sources and other essentials. In addition, there are comprehensive descriptions of the flora, fauna and geology you will encounter.

There are 8 volumes in the set. I am selling only as a set, not individual volumes. I paid Steve an average of $20 per volume (well worth it). I’ll sell them for half-price ($80) plus shipping. If you are in a hurry I can ship USPS Priority (~$24). If not, then USPS Media (~$8). I can do PayPal or Venmo.

DM me with any questions.
