I was browsing through an old trip report I posted several years ago and noticed that the picture are no longer there. They have been replaced by little generic thumbnail symbols. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a bug in the system? Below is a link to the trip report. I have checked other trip reports I have posted and they all seem to be OK. This is the only example I have found where the pictures no longer display.Oct 24, 2020 at 8:59 pm #3680977Rex SandersBPL Member

I’ve seen this on some but not all older posts with no apparent pattern.
Modern web browsers insist on valid SSL certificates for good security. Here’s what I get trying to open one of those images in a new window with MacOS Safari:
Looks like a content delivery network used by BPL has SSL certificate problems.
For non-web-geeks: A BPL supplier screwed up, hiding these images due to a security mistake, but probably doesn’t threaten your system.

The pictures are showing fine for me (Firefox, Windows 10) and well worth viewing.Oct 25, 2020 at 2:20 am #3680987Nick GatelBPL Member

The pictures are fine on my Mac. Sometimes if you have a slow Internet connection there can be problems with pictures loading, especially when there are many pictures as in your post. Sometimes there will be blank spaces where the pictures should be and sometimes little icons instead.
If you click on another thread on BPL does the page load quickly?Oct 25, 2020 at 4:41 am #3680989Erica RBPL Member

We discovered a link redirect issue and was able to fix it last night. That thread was trying to load images from our old CDN, which we ditched in August for a newer, faster one, when we migrated the site to a new server in late August.
I’m going to leave this thread open for a little bit in case you identify any more issues.
Otherwise, thanks for bringing that up Tom, it was a very valuable and critical bug report to fix.Oct 25, 2020 at 5:35 pm #3681080
And thank you for getting after it so quickly! First class customer service. I’ll let you know if I turn up anything else.Oct 25, 2020 at 5:44 pm #3681082
“If you click on another thread on BPL does the page load quickly?”
I loaded several other trip reports, several of them also containing a similar number of pictures, within minutes of discovering the problem, and they were all fine. From Ryan’s post I gather they isolated a specific problem associated with that particular report, probably having to do with when it was first created and when I tried to access it after the software upgrade date. In any case, BPL seems to have addressed the problem very well. I just accessed it again, and everything was normal.
