Backpacking Light is soliciting trip reports from your 2017 adventures! If you’re interested in writing something that you believe would be valuable to our readership, we’d love to publish it!
You have two options:
- If you want to publish your report rapidly, and with no restrictions on how you format it, post your report in this Trip Reports forum – it’s full of invaluable information and beautiful photos from trips taken by our members!
- If you want to reach a wider audience and author something with more structure, please consider submitting a Story Proposal for a Trip Report Article (guidance on how to write a trip report here).
Submitting a trip report as an article offers a few advantages: we’ll offer you a cash honorarium to say thank you as well as a complimentary Unlimited Membership, and you’ll reach a much wider audience. Because we syndicate articles in our social media, email newsletter, and other feeds, traffic to trip report articles is on the order of 100X or more the traffic to a trip report posted in the forums. A forum will be attached to your trip report article, so you’ll still have the opportunity to engage with our forum members about your adventure!
We’ve made a number of changes to our editorial process this fall, and have hired and trained a new publishing assistant to manage the editorial workflow. One of the changes we made is that trip reports will no longer be subject to editorial calendar scheduling, and we’ll publish them rapidly once the author submits their final version.
