2017 was appalling. This is only a small part of it.Jan 17, 2018 at 5:07 am #3512871
It seems to me that by resigning they simply remove another roadblock for Trump’s cabinet to do exactly what they want. Ultimately that will be selling off all public lands.Jan 17, 2018 at 5:31 am #3512875

Zinke refused to meet with them, ignores the science, and implements the Republican agenda.
I wouldn’t want my name associated with those policies.Jan 17, 2018 at 2:49 pm #3512891

Josh Leavitt mentioned to me that he felt that Zinke was a “fake conservationist.” Being raised in Montana, I kind of know how Zinke might think about this stuff. Many republicans in MT think they should do whatever they can to create jobs, even if it means degrading the land. That’s why we must protect our pristine areas as best that we can. Hopefully SUWA will win its suit regarding Bears Ears and Escalante, but I don’t know how we can re-protect from oil/gas drilling in the Arctic.
Why can’t Washington be satisfied with the oil production of the Bakken field in ND? It has all the oil we should need for the next 50+ years. We know why the big oil companies want to drill, baby, drill – but we also know how they can trash the environment (e.g. the Exxon Valdez, the BP Gulf disaster). Next November’s mid-term elections can’t come soon enough – we’ve got to get congress better balanced. Then boot the whole lot of the destroyers out in 2020. You know, make America truly great again…Jan 17, 2018 at 4:24 pm #3512898

I had mixed feeling when I read about this earlier. But, if I was in their shoes and felt the committee was just being ignored, I suppose I’d resign too to distance myself from bad policy and its implementation, and as a statement to the public of sorts.Jan 18, 2018 at 9:45 pm #3513137

They are trying to take the Canadian Lynx off the endangered list too.

I think their terms were about to expire anyway. So they made a statement by resigning. Otherwise they would have gone quietly in the night with without anyone noticing.Jan 19, 2018 at 5:08 pm #3513268
I wonder if Paul, the OP knows his thread was moved and not deleted because Chaff threads don’t show up in your Threads Started?
