be curious to learn about the best materials for stiffeners. both sheets and struts.

Sheets: what goes in the brim of a rain jacket hood? what does ULA use in their hip belts (along with foam)?

Struts: what does MLD use for the struts at the corners of the bathtub floors? what does Tarptent use to keep their shelter vents flexed out?

    etc..

I have used the giant plastic tie wraps from the hardware store to stiffen tent floor corners and tent vents.  They are almost 1/2 inch wide and 18 inches long.  They take the beating of being stuffed with the tent well.  I am going to check the fabric store for the 1/8 foam stiffener for hip belts.
