    @xnomanx

    I’m playing classical in the studio this morning.  Two students have already excitedly asked me:

    “OOHH!  Is this the Star Wars music?”

    “No, this is Gustav Mahler being performed by Yutaka Sado.  But I’m glad you like classical. John Williams is the person who composed the Star Wars music that you’re probably thinking of.”

    Williams has likely been the gateway to classical for millions people, it’s amazing.  I remember my parents taking me to see him at the Hollywood Bowl when I was a kid.  It was obviously the Star Wars connection that had me initially interested.  But to this day, I can clearly recall being absolutely floored by the sound quality of a full orchestra, all under the stars…Safe to say he was probably my gateway too, I’ve been dabbling ever since.

    I’m not into opera but Habanera by Maria Callas is an earworm if anything is.   Brenda yells at me to turn it off because she doesn’t want that earworm : )   I have Carmen on my phone and listen occasionally, not quite enough to get me to go see it though.
