I would like BLPers to go the “Long Range Hunting” site and go into their forums.
If interested you can become a member for free so you can post and better see how their site works.
Browse the site and then compare it to the BPL site. To me the LRH site is far more user friendly than BPL and looks better as well.
Yeah, because there is no paid membership you have hunting related ads but otherwise the site is, in my experience, easier to use and has a nicer look.
Since I’m a life member at BPL I have posted this suggestion in BPL’s “Bugs, etc.” forum about this so Ryan will hopefully look at LRH himself.

I looked at LHR. Don’t like it, don’t think it’s more user friendly.
But, more to the point, BPL spent money to migrate the old site to the current site. It was quite the hassle migrating all of the old content to this site, and they’re still working thru some of the issues from that migration. They ain’t gonna do it again to yet another new site.
Personally, I think the current site is fine and user-friendly enough. My only issue is a wish that they’d move the gear swap thread out of the main forums, which is supposed to be in the works.Mar 8, 2018 at 8:00 pm #3523206

I agree with the addition that I really, really wish you could go directly to new posts in a thread without having to scroll through, trying to remember the last one you read.Mar 8, 2018 at 8:16 pm #3523217
Oh yeah, and move the User Test Forum out of the main forums too. :-)Mar 8, 2018 at 9:04 pm #3523236
Those who can access this link should have a look.Mar 8, 2018 at 9:18 pm #3523238
I checked out the hunting website and I imagine I could get used to it but right off the bat I did not like their format. I would rather have BPL the way it is now.Mar 9, 2018 at 2:32 am #3523287

I can live with the current BPL. I do wish that pictures would automatically re-size though. Of course, I didn’t hate the old site as much as most people seemed to either.Mar 9, 2018 at 4:02 am #3523313

So I had left BPL for awhile, before the switch. Didn’t even know it was happening. I prefer the old website layout, but like the new ability to format the posts. Its most likely the “its new, so I don’t like it… and ya damn kids, get off my lawn” type of situation. I’ll be fine.
But to be fair to Eric, I haven’t checked out his link.Mar 9, 2018 at 4:04 am #3523315

I read BPLTrac and the features status list says “remove gear swap from recent posts” is complete. But there are multiple FS posts displayed right now in “recent posts.” ???? I know Ken (and others) have been requesting this feature for many years.Mar 9, 2018 at 4:55 am #3523330
OK, “Never Mind”, as Danna Danna Rosanna used to say. I can live with the BPL “newer” format.
But I have actually used the LRH site enough to know it has several advantages in its format.Mar 9, 2018 at 5:12 am #3523333

Yeah, it’s a bit confusing. As I understand it, the update has been completed in BPL’s code, but won’t migrate to the ‘production’ site until the hosting software platform gets a major software upgrade. No idea when that’s happening.Mar 9, 2018 at 5:16 am #3523334
I believe we are waiting for an overdue release from the people that write the forum software.Mar 9, 2018 at 5:17 am #3523335

Actually, that was Miss Emily Litella who used to say ‘Never mind.’ She was played by Gilda Radner, who also played Roseanne Roseannadanna. Get your pop culture references right! :-)Mar 9, 2018 at 10:59 am #3523349

Yeah, the current format is usable. It is a pain since I cannot track recent messages for all the cod d@mn swap sh!t.Mar 10, 2018 at 3:26 am #3523523

It would also be nice to be able to edit trip reports, instead of having to post them completely in one session. It is why I no longer post trip reports.Mar 10, 2018 at 9:29 am #3523557

I frequent a few fora; I think the best one in terms of the forum software is slowtwitch.com (a triathlon site). It loads fast even on a slow connection and goes straight to the posts you haven’t read.Mar 12, 2018 at 3:13 am #3523900
Well, wouldn’t it be “nice” to be able TO EDIT YOUR ORIGINAL POST???Mar 12, 2018 at 5:00 am #3523936
Read the link I supplied early thoroughly and save yourself some time.Mar 12, 2018 at 5:11 pm #3524011

Checked it out. Like BPL better. But I only gave it a cursory glance. More based on overall look and feel as opposed to functionality.Mar 12, 2018 at 8:35 pm #3524052
Thread moved to the frostier request forum. It’s not exactly a feature request but close enough.
