How many thousands of times do I have to dismiss the “download our handbook” pop up? Every new page that loads, a few seconds later, down it floats again. Can I PLEASE somehow opt out of seeing it again (and again… and again)? I’m logged in. I accept cookies. The pop up needs a check box allowing it to not be shown again.

This is perfection. I could make an MC Escher image of infinite mirror effect pop ups.

Amen, please dear God make it stop. It seems to drop down every 7 seconds….relentlessly.

Especially when it’s also at the top of the menu block on the right side of the page, large, making it necessary to scroll to actually get to the menu. Obnoxious.

It’s why I continue to use an ad and popup blocker on this site.

Okay, I fixed it. I installed the AdBlock extension for Chrome and turned the “Fanboy’s Annoyances” filter on in the ‘filter lists’ setting. Sweet relief!

Yes, I downloaded the handbook, and later became a BPL member. But I don’t want to continue seeing the popup.

For the love of Dog, now I’m on my iPad and here comes that effing pop up again.

So… AdBlock goes onto the iPad too, and disabling “allow non-intrusive ads” ironically kills the most intrusive ad on any website I regularly visit.

    Peace reigns again.

    Ad blocker installed.

And now one website’s actions now affects them all.

“It’s why I continue to use an ad and popup blocker on this site.”

Also known as self defense.  That pop up isn’t the only obnoxious piece of software I’ve encountered on this site down thru the years.

I’m usually opposed to pop-ups since they’re crap for serious backpacking, but they were a convenient place to put the toddlers out of the sun.

Every moved to a new page generates it.  It used to happen only when not signed in.

But now it happens just as often when signed in.

This is most obnoxious behavior by our hosts.  It will kill a good, and formerly super, website.  Hard to understand why you would shoot yourself in the foot.

Yeah, I don’t log on much now, as I hate to have to constantly hit the X button to delete that pop-up, and then have to do all over again. It’s just not worth it to me, despite missing the Idester’s fun posts.
