    @gearu

    I’ve got a pretty promising design for a tent that  I’ve been perfecting via small scale mock ups for the last couple of days. To make this into reality I need sources for the following:

    Sources of Cuben/Dyneema, especially the eVent-WPB version (want 8.5′ x 8.5′ + squares)
    Sources for 30D Silpoly (need 10′ x 10′ +)
    Recommendations for reliable brands of DIY silicone coatings
    Recommendations for grommets with the best strength/weight/corrosion resistance ratio

    Just to clarify, the cuben I need most readily is traditional .51oz Cuben Fiber, the DCF-WPB is for another project in the more distant future

    they have silpoly

    Silnet?  There’s the stuff for car windows.  Mineral spirits:100% silicone caulk – 10:1.

    Rather than put in grommets, sew on nylon webbing?

    How could one go about obtaining a 12 x 12, 0.74 oz Cuben Fiber Tarp?

    Maybe buy the fabric from RSBTR and make it yourself?  0.8 oz 54″ x 1/2 yard is $16.50

    MLD has one 8.6′ x 10′ for $380

    Maybe they’d make one 12′ x 12′?  or someone else?

    I might just go ahead and make one as you suggest. Does Cuben fiber come any wider than 54″ on the roll?

    Cuben does not come any wider than 54″ so you will need three panels wide to get your 12′.
