The canister fitting/valve control and fuel line look just like those of a Kovea Spider.

The connection looks very much like some of the ones Kovea uses.

The BTU rating on the MEC site does not match what is on the GSI site.

The GSI canister topper version has a similar base design as the MSR Micro Rocket, which is made my Kovea.

Just wanted to follow up on these.

I had a chance to take a look at one of the canister top units at MEC in Ottawa last week.

They are made in Korea and have the same base mount as the MSR MicroRocket / Kovea Flame Tornado.

Any recommendations on this GSI stove vs the Kovea Spider?  Any other light, remote canister stoves to consider?

I was able to take a look at the GSI remote canister stove over the weekend.
Not impressed with the build of it or the footprint of the base with the legs out; would fit in your palm with the legs extended.

    Go with the Kovea Spider.
