By chance a few years ago I saw an announcement that Jennifer Pharr Davis was speaking at a local library. She is a delightful, energetic, lanky, hiker, outfitter, adventurer from North Carolina who set an AT speed record in 2011. She was with her husband Brew and baby Charlie. They were fun and friendly. She has a book about her first AT thru hike in 2005 and Brew wrote about supporting her on the 2011 46 day record. Lots about the emotional and physical challenges of her treks; not much about gear. Their Faith is important in all they do but she doesn’t preach. Light reading and some of the dialogue seems corny/scripted but overall should be interesting for those contemplating a long hike or who just like to learn about how others live and cope with challenge. Send a PM and I’ll choose one to mail these to.
