Long story, but kinda fun and unique.
Had this jacket spec’d from the at-the-time venerable Montbell EX Light Down Jacket. There was no anorak from MB then (circa 4.5 years ago) and I was working as a buyer at the now defunct ProLite Gear. So we had Westcomb essentially do an EX Light but with a hood. Which is what this coat is. We wanted to make this a ProLite/Westcomb collab special but it unfortunately never came to fruition. So this is a one of a kind proto. To the details:
Specs: 161g / 5.68oz
900FP down and I forget what the shell is but I believe it is Pertex Quantum or very similar. I forget the amount of down but IIRC it was spec’d at either 2.5oz or 3oz.
Sewn-thru construction and black color shell.
Fit is a solid shmedium and somewhat short in the torso. 25.5″ in back (from shoulders) and 23.5″ in the front (zipper length). Zipper is a full length YKK 45c.
The arms are normal in length. It’s just a tad short in the torso IMO. But so were the og EX Lite Jackets…I’m a 15/33 slim dress shirt, 5’10” tall, 32″ inseam and 150 lbs for reference and this coat fits fine over a R1.
It has no tags and just a small hang loop on inner neck. No frills – no pockets, no draw hem, nada. Just a elastic bound hood and sleeve cuffs.
The jacket is in perfect condition, as I only used it a couple of times before eventually snagging an EX Light Anorak. Held on to it for nostalgia’s sake and that seems just pointless, so off it goes to a new home. Always stored uncompressed and in a non-smoking home. Phew, hope that was all :)

Damn. Forgot to use a placeholder post. Also should mention that the coat was made in Canada.
I’ll put the price here again and will edit this post once sold, since we all know that BPL’s functionality is a bit odd ;)

Somebody should snag this. I would if I didn’t have an ex light already. Great specs at a great price.Oct 23, 2017 at 7:25 am #3497974
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Intrigued. I’d be happy to bring it home to B.C… ;) Although I have a feeling I could miss out since I’m just about to head to bed.</p>
Curious, though — when you say the fit is “fine” for you, is it close to being not-fine? I’m about the same height, but 175lbs, 41″ chest. I would also like to be able to layer an R1 or similar weight fleece, without being constricted in the chest and arms. This sounds like it could be a bit too slim?Oct 23, 2017 at 3:59 pm #3498026
@bikeme I’d say a 41″ chest is pushing it. I’m at about 36″+ chest and I would say that about 39″ or so would be the max. There’s plenty of room for a base layer and R1 on me with the coat with no down compression – but at 40″ I’d say you would not have room for anything but a base layer.
Still up for grabs!Oct 26, 2017 at 3:45 pm #3498605

Sub 6oz total weight and baffled. Nothing remotely like that on the market to my knowledge – please correct me if I’m wrong!Oct 28, 2017 at 3:36 am #3499013

How about $145 shipped?Oct 30, 2017 at 4:08 pm #3499328
Aaron S sent me some calculations, and based on those, it’s likely that this jacket has closer to 2oz of down in it. Likely similar to the 2.3oz that is in the MB Exlight. Thanks Aaron for the heads up!Nov 1, 2017 at 11:26 pm #3499722
