I bought a bunch of Cuben for some MYOG projects I never finished. I’m into all of it over $800 will sell all of it for $300 TYD.
Some of this stuff is very rare and hard to find as it is cubic tech laminated to nylon, great for reinforcing stitched areas. This is an incredible deal if you know what this is. You could make tons of stuff on the cheap with all this!
The details are as follows:
59 linear feet of CT1K.18 Black (16 feet still brand new uncut on roll, odd shaped 100″x116″ cut and fabricated piece I intended for a tent body, odd shaped 142″x60″ cut and fabricated piece I intended for a teepee, the remaining footage is the cut scraps.)
1-Lin meter CT1HBSK.18/Black Woven Corsica. This is cuben laminated to cordura. Weight of this piece is 8.45 ounces. Perfect for sewn reinforcements.
1- full 9 meter roll of 2″ wide PSA cuben fiber tape
3-full 9 meter rolls of 1″ wide PSA Cuben fiber tape
1-partial roll (8′) of 1″ wide PSA Cuben fiber tape
1-full 100yd roll of .5″ wide PSA Cuben fiber tape
Jul 24, 2017 at 9:27 pm #3481084I’d also sell the stuff in groups as follows:
- All the cut scraps $50
- 142″x60″ unfinished teepee shaped piece, multiple pieces were cut and taped together to make this. $75
- 100″x116″ piece. 2 pieces cut and bonded together intended for a tent fly. $75
- 190″x full width uncut rolls $100
- Cuben and cordura laminate $50
- .5″ and 1.0″ PSA tape. $.15 per foot (full roll increments only)
- 2.0 PSA tape $.25 per foot (full roll increments only)
Jul 25, 2017 at 9:00 am #3481132I’ve had questions on the laminate nylon/cuben fabric. There are actually two small pieces of it – I failed to mention one of them in the listing. They are as follows:
A- 1.1 yard of a mid weight cordura (looks like a 420D ballistic) laminated to cuben backing
B- .7 feet by full width of lightweight nylon fabric (looks like 7D sleeping bag fabric) laminated to cuben backing.Jul 26, 2017 at 7:54 am #3481286Group 5 – Cordura/Cuben laminate fabric is SOLD
Jul 26, 2017 at 5:35 pm #3481342I want to start a project with Cuben. I’ve never sewn with it. Wondering why you pulled out of your project. Came by this forum to ask questions about it. Was there a problem sewing it? Looks like a great deal.
Jul 26, 2017 at 7:41 pm #3481355Laurie, I’m not the OP but I’ll tell you that cuben is extremely easy to work with and easy to sew. I was very nervous the first time I pulled the trigger on a yard due to the cost but once I got it and started working with it, I honestly wished I would never have to sew woven materials again. Cuben is just so nice and easy to work with.
Jul 26, 2017 at 8:13 pm #3481358I concur that Cuben is very easy to work with. It doesn’t stretch at all so cuts have to be precise. I suggest taping vs sewing whenever possible. There are lots of threads here on this site on how to properly construct a seam that is sewn
way easier than silnylon IMO
Jul 27, 2017 at 9:09 pm #3481485I forgot to include photos of the unfinished 142″ x 60″ teepee shaped piece. This is a six sided hexagonal teepee. If you look closely you can see the diagonal seams in the photos below.
Jul 28, 2017 at 7:07 pm #3481635Thanks for the answers, you guys. I need to do some exploring around for some videos. The taping sounds interesting. I was wondering if that was what the tape supplies were for, in your sale items. Sewn most of my life and always wanted to make a shelter, and other camping gear. This site was a great little find.
Jul 28, 2017 at 10:00 pm #3481654That’s exactly what the PSA tape for sale is for, bonding Cuben to Cuben. The 2″ is best for ridgelines, while the 1″ @ is good for all other seams. The .5″ is good for hemming the edges of things.
