I actually love posting pictures of him because he is adorable but not exactly a beauty because of his surgery . I will here in a bit ..Jan 14, 2021 at 6:49 pm #3693834
I think he’s beautiful Kat, both outside and inside.Jan 14, 2021 at 6:49 pm #3693835
thanks Doug. We love him. People look at him quite puzzled. He’s a wonderful dog.
Actually as not to spam this. Here is the ridiculous story of this dog, with picturesJan 14, 2021 at 8:39 pm #3693847Jeffs ElevenBPL Member

I like this idea – forum for backpacking with dogs. There’s plenty of material to discuss – removing porcupine quills, pack chafing, paw injury, wilderness rescue, dog bites on humans (thinking of their owners not others), DIY booties and packs, in or out of the tent/shelter, picketing, endless. Plus lots of dog pics. What’s not to like?Jan 15, 2021 at 7:46 am #3693885
Not a great picture of her, but here’s my Leia. Hard to believe that she’s this big and still not even nine months old…Jan 15, 2021 at 7:06 pm #3694026
Wow Vyda and Leia !!! And Karen’s beautiful pup as well .
I ended up buying a lightly used Ruffwear day pack on ebay . I’ll start by just having Baldy wear it now and then when we go out for walks so that he associates it with fun.
Here he is….about an hour ago.

working on it… news soon, I thinkJan 17, 2021 at 6:21 am #3694201Jan 17, 2021 at 11:11 am #3694224
I went the UL route with Mushka (cooling her paws on a summer hike).
But she’s an old girl now…still a champion ball fetcher and squirrel eater but her days of 50Ks in the mountains are done..her joints get stiff so I keep the mileage lower and she keeps my wife company while I backpack now. I’ve always liked little dogs, very easy backpacking- she could always share my food, water, and sleeping bag, never needed gear of her own.Jan 17, 2021 at 12:27 pm #3694232
What a handsome pup, Craig!Jan 17, 2021 at 12:32 pm #3694233
Ok, y’all can expect a dog forum when the new site goes live. It’s still being developed so I’ve been instructed to not mention any dates yet. 🤐Jan 17, 2021 at 12:42 pm #3694236
Awesome!Jan 17, 2021 at 12:42 pm #3694237
Thanks Matthew.Everyone here has some cool creatures! The variety in shapes, sizes, and temperaments of what we call “dog” is pretty crazy.
Biggest problem with the little ones where I live: coyote bait. We’ve had some crazy encounters, to the point that I will not take her to certain places after dark.Jan 17, 2021 at 1:02 pm #3694244
Beautiful little buddy you have there Craig!Jan 17, 2021 at 1:06 pm #3694246
This morning I went for a bike ride with Baldy though the fallow fields of the farm and though a small grove of cypress we found this beach. We had a great time. There is definitively something to be said for having a buddy that no matter what adventure you take them on they are even happier than you and can keep going. He is pooped now but my goodness we had a blast. He makes me smile big time.Jan 17, 2021 at 1:15 pm #3694251

Definitely. I like to think that one of the reasons we have pets is so that when we’re down we still know that someone has it really good…and are then uplifted.
I think it ties in to the idea that happiness is richer when we make others happy, not ourselves. I think it certainly extends to our animal friends as well.Jan 17, 2021 at 1:31 pm #3694253
^^^ I agree 100% !Jan 17, 2021 at 9:49 pm #3694316
I always love seeing pup pics. I’ve had the good fortune to have met two of the dogs in this thread, loved them both.
Here’s a pic of my Chena, a one-year-old Siberian Husky mix that I adopted from a local shelter last week. I had put a treat into the ball in front of her to make her work to get it. I love the expression, almost like she’s saying, “Really? I am not amused.” :-)
And to me, Karen’s pup looks like it might be saying, “You do realize it’s fricking cold out here, right?” :-)Jan 17, 2021 at 9:50 pm #3694317

For me it has to extend to our animal friends. I’m not really known for making people happy… :-)
