@septimiusLocale: Changes Often
Oh man is this funny. The queen of daytime woke has been exposed as a complete phony. Now people are coming out of the woodwork talking about how mean Ellen is. The image she’s always cultivated has been one of “being nice” lol. Turns out racism, sexual harassment and all types of demeaning behavior have been commonplace on the show for years. Actors Brad Garret and Lea Thompson have said Ellen’s latest statements on the matter are “blameshifting” and that It’s “common knowledge” Ellen is a tyrant. Yep, it’s what I’d expect, she’ll never take ownership and then she puts out a bunch of PR word salad that means absolutely nothing. I must give The Washington Post credit though because it’s a liberal newspaper and they’re exposing one of the most visible social justice do-gooders in the industry. None of it’s surprising though. Most virtue signaling Hollywood types are like Ellen, complete fakes..Aug 5, 2020 at 1:37 pm #3669255

Maybe you should question your belief that the Washington Post is liberal?Aug 5, 2020 at 1:38 pm #3669256Diane “Piper” SoiniBPL Member

I love Ellen, because she’s so nice
I don’t want to know what she’s really likeAug 5, 2020 at 2:48 pm #3669275KatttBPL Member
She is clearly not pure enough and deserves to be burned at the stake (regardless of all the people she has helped).Aug 5, 2020 at 2:54 pm #3669277owareusa.comBPL Member

I watched her on David Letterman’s Netflix show. She and David were harassing the staff right there. I found it disturbing. This was before the publicity about her abuse. I believe there is more to it. Boy were the staff jumpy.
Also think less of Letterman now. Not watching anymore if his stuff.Aug 5, 2020 at 2:59 pm #3669279KatttBPL Member
I have never seen the Ellen show and last watched Letterman 20 years ago. I don’t put these people on a pedestal so I am not surprised if they turned out to be primadonnas or jerks. I do object to purity tests that can obliterate someone that has done more good than bad.Aug 5, 2020 at 4:15 pm #3669292jscottBPL Member

There’s something funny about a discussion to determine if Ellen lives up to Chaff’s standards of friendliness.
BTW I can’t find my flippers. I think I gave them away years ago.Aug 5, 2020 at 11:25 pm #3669335idesterBPL Member

I agree with Kattt.
Also I have never watched Ellen or Letterman. I only know about them because pop culture gets around. Ellen’s niceness was almost certainly a brand, not a reality.
Oprah’s property in Montecito used over a million gallons of water per day during the drought and refused to cut back. Don’t believe the brands these people sell you.Aug 6, 2020 at 10:42 am #3669370Nick GatelBPL Member

I don’t know much about Ellen, other than she apparently once lived in a closet. Joyce tells me she gives a lot of money to charity. Same for Oprah, she is apparently very generous.
Why are we so fascinated with celebrities?
Diane mentioned Oprah’s water usage. So while these rich people are using millions of gallons of water in drought stricken California, us poor people are ripping out our lawns, planting drought resistant plants, drip irrigation systems, taking two minute showers, and engaging in other extreme water conservation methods. But the celebrities the public worships? Read this:
Most of these celebrities are telling us to reduce our energy consumption to save the planet, buy solar panels and electric cars. Well, that’s easy for the rich and famous, nearly impossible for most of us average people. Then we have the rich and famous, including Obama, who is a champion of the Paris Accord. How does he vacation? Well, he cruised around in one of the world’s largest mega-yachts with other one percenters like Oprah, Tom Hanks, Bruce Springsteen, and others. Gosh, how much CO2 is emitted from such a luxury ship with so few passengers?
