New kit I put together today; Weighs 2.1oz
Aluminum cup holds 1 cup with ample headroom. Has plastic lid to hold stored parts. Has ridgeline for strength.
has titanium pot support that stores around the base of a Starlyte XL3 burner. Burner holds 3.5oz fuel and has plastic lid to prevent loss of fuel by evaporation. Pot support sits on top of Starlyte when in heat mode.
1 mini bic.

What have you used as raw materials, and how did you make those neat slots on the put support?
Jun 4, 2017 at 5:37 am #3471355The cup is from a can of peanuts. The punch is used by crafters. Got it from hobby lobby.
The kit can be used with esbit. Same pot support. Use a DIY BGET (Brian Green Esbit Tray)

Now I see that the slots in the pot support are the same shape as the ones found in blister packages. Is there a specific name for such shape or punch? Thanks again
Jun 6, 2017 at 8:43 pm #3472000My wife is into crafts and she purchased it a few years ago and couldn’t remember if it had a name.
The pot support is titanium, the burner is aluminum.
I’m going to make something for esbit 4 gram tablets and see how well 1 tablet can do for one cuppa something using the same aluminum can.

I believe the industry term is “hang hole” and the punch has been referred to as a “hang tag hole punch” from what I have seen. Â The shape likely has a specific name, to which I do not know.

The pot support is great – especially how integrated it is.

I agree. I like that it is not directly in the flame path … between the flame and the water vessel. I recall Tony B. doing one of his tests way back where he was generating heat maps of different stove configurations, and he discovered that pot supports were significant heat-sinks.
