I'm landing in Frankfurt and heading south toward Zurich and then onto Italy for a few weeks of hiking and Via Ferrata. Anyone know of a good place to buy some Leki or some type of equivalent poles on this route? I won't have any checked bags, and I'm pretty sure I won't get away with putting the poles in my carry on.

I would have loved to stop at a Costco and check to see if they had any of the carbon fiber ones they have here, but no luck, no Costco there yet.

I'm pretty sure they will have something in Cortina, but I was hoping to find something before getting there.

Oh Lord – most any gear shop will have trekking poles – and day packs and shoes of all weights. Very few carry overnight gear, but day walkers are everywhere.
Now, finding the Leki brand – dunno, but any large shop should be OK.

    Cheers

I remember a decent hiking/camping store on the main street leading up from the train station in Freiburg. It's a nice stop and probably about halfway between Frankfurt and Zurich. Honestly, any Intersport or Intersport Eybl will have Leki, and they should be visible from the highway. Also, Globetrotter would have lots of stuff.

Edit: It's always worth stopping at an Aldi. They often have a decent pair of poles for very cheap.

This place is in Frankfurt and carries Leki.

You could always order online from anywhere European and have poles shipped to your first hotel….

Thanks Ed, good idea. I'll do that, it will definitely save me some time.

Aren't Fizan Compacts made and shipped from Italy? I would be all over a set of those.

sort of like their REI store.

While you are there, their freeze dried food actually tastes good. https://www.globetrotter.de/shop/trekn-eat-jaeger
