Looking to outfit some friends for upcoming summer trips we have planned. They're just starting to get into lightweight backpacking, and I'm looking to get them set up with decent, cheap gear. Here are the first items I'm looking at for them – might be back looking for packs soon:
Shoes: size 11, men's. Looking for trail runners or light hikers – currently using leather boots. Wants something significantly lighter to match the lighter pack, and something that breathes better. $35 or less here
Shoes: size 9.5. Same as above – light hikers or trail runners.
Cheap down summer sleeping bags. Lafumas and Kelty Light Years are perfect.
Men's regular (5'9" 155lb), 30-45 degree rating, down.Can't spend more than $40-50.
Men's regular / long (6'1", 165lb) 30-45 degree rating, down. Would like to keep to $75 or less.
Pad: for the same 6'1" guy. Self-inflating or air pad, $40 or less. Full length preferred but I don't think he'll be too picky.
Thanks all! Just send me PM's or reply in the thread. If you're asking more than $10 or $20 higher than the prices I posted, it'll be a no – tight budgets for a bunch of college kids.Apr 8, 2014 at 6:06 am #2090867

I have a 6' long Thermarest Prolite pad and a pair of patagonia Fore Runner Evo trail running shoes size 11. The shoes are brand new and the pad is used but holds air fine.
I'd sell both of them together for $75 shipped. let me know if you are interested.
These are the shoes: http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/mens-fore-runner-evo?p=79002-0-149
The pad is the orange colored Prolite model, 72" by 20" by 1" thick.Apr 8, 2014 at 7:39 am #2090885

Cole, I have a Lafuma Warm'n Light 800 – Long (light blue shell) and a REI Lite-Core 1.5 self inflating pad (48"x20" with slight taper). Let me know if you're interested. I'd like to sell them as a pair if possible to save on shipping as they're both bulky items. $100 shipped.Apr 8, 2014 at 10:16 am #2090921
Checking with my friends on all offers, thanks.Apr 8, 2014 at 6:02 pm #2091041

I've got another pad that could go into the mix. Thermarest, something inflatable. Let me know if you're still looking.
More to the point, I've got some lightweight (non-UL) packs that might work for your taller friend, and a smaller golite jam for the mid-size friend. Again, let me know if you're interested.
Enjoy!Apr 8, 2014 at 6:50 pm #2091050
I have a Kelty Cosmic Down 20 that I was just about to list on Gear Swap. It's a long, but I'd like to get something closer to $120 so it's a bit out of your buddy's price range. If he wants to spring for something warmer, shoot me a PM.Apr 10, 2014 at 7:07 pm #2091767
I was able to find one pad and bag from Eric, but am still looking for the other bag and shoes.Apr 13, 2014 at 11:17 am #2092527
Found a down bag from Valerie. Still looking for size 11 and size 9.5 shoes – preferably trail runners or very light hiking shoes. Thanks!Apr 13, 2014 at 11:20 am #2092530

Check runnerswarehouse.com for shoe fitting help. Then check amazon.com for deals. I just ordered a pair of Merrells for $58 instead of the usually $100 because they were the wrong color.Apr 20, 2014 at 11:37 pm #2094890
Bags/pads from Valerie and Eric arrived, look like they're in great condition. Appreciate the help – can't wait to get people out on the trail!Apr 21, 2014 at 11:15 am #2094983
