I cant seem to scrape up enough money for decent gear so I'm trying something different. If you have any old stuff in the closet that might fit me, let me know. I'm hoping to get this basic stuff together for about $100. I realize that's practically giving your stuff away but some of you might have old/heavy/damaged goods that might work fine for me.
waterproof shell (jacket/pants)
neoprene overboots (xl)( i might be able to hack these from a wetsuit)
sz14 waterproof hiking boots
I already have a full complement of 3-season hiking gear so i think this will close the gaps and get me up on San Gorgonio safely for some overnights. I'll be sleeping in my SL3 and I'll rig up a hand shovel out of an aluminum pan lid maybe? hehe.Mar 6, 2013 at 11:34 am #1962169

Trust me, a real shovel works way better.
I have a three-section snow shovel made by Black Diamond. It is used but in decent shape.
Will you be interested in having it for $15? You know $15 pretty much just covers the shipping.
Please PM me if you are interested.

What size jacket/ pants do you need? Looking for insulated or non?
You know, I have a friend who frequents Marshalls looking for deals. This winter he has found tons of snow gear from decent brands (like Columbia), for super cheap. Might be something to check out.Mar 6, 2013 at 1:34 pm #1962239

Adan, seeing as you live in SGV and I'm not that far. Send me a PM, I may have some gaiters for you. Also, I was at my local Sports Authority (Burbank) and they had a light aluminum snow shovel for $30.
These are the gaiters I have – http://www.sportchalet.com/product/301587_th0901.do?keyword=gaiter&
I plan on getting some OR ones for next season so you're welcome to these.
I think my PM is setup, if not, I'll look for your reply here.Mar 6, 2013 at 5:08 pm #1962371
Marshall's, huh? Would never have thought of that. I'll be looking on eBay as well. I'm covered on the jacket now, so just waterproof bottoms in XL. Waist is 36 and length is 34. I'm definitely interested in those gaiters so please look for a PM from me about those.Mar 6, 2013 at 8:28 pm #1962480
