I have used my Solomid with just a ground cloth on cold, clear, calm nights to the mid twenties, but have been considering that a bivy might add some warmth, not to mention a little more protection for my bag in cases of rain. Any suggestions/thoughts?
    Thanks!

I use a MLD cuben SoloMid paired with a MLD Soul eVent bivy. The two work well as a winter system for solo trips.

Although I have used a bivy in the winter for the same reason, mine is highly breathble and has a big mesh window so that moisture doesn't build up.
Condensation in a bivy can negate the benefits.

A VBL may be a better choice if the temps are very low.
