These are the bags that are used to store food while your California house is being fumigated for termites and other insects.
I need between 4 and 12 for the coming season. I can buy a box of 100 for $65 + S&H to Colorado, but that is a bit of overkill.
I'd appreciate a lead on a source on these, or a similar product. Or if you neighbor is getting gassed, see if you can convince the Terminix guy to give/sell you a dozen.
(No, OPSacks are not an option. I've gone through to many. Far to fragile and $4 each.)Jun 30, 2011 at 8:37 pm #1754889
What size? [Size Matters!]
The ones I have are 18"x36", I believe.

Those Nylo-Fume Bags are awesome as pack-liners. I got some from Marc last February at the BPL event in Henry Coe. I used two of them inside my MLD Exodus pack as a water proof liner and stored my food wrapped up in them at night. Those two Nylo-Fume bags lasted 2,180 miles on the A.T.
They are still water tight.
I can't confirm if animals could smell my food through them but I can say that I never lost a single crumb of food anywhere on the A.T. and used my food as a pillow every night.
Anyhow, I saw this thread and wanted to confirm the utility and incredible toughness of these Nylo-Fume bags. They are lighter and tougher than compactor garbage bags.
THANK YOU Marc!
**Edited cause I thanked the wrong person.. LOL!Jun 30, 2011 at 9:48 pm #1754904

Matt. You got those bags from Marc Eldrige. B.G. was not there…Jul 2, 2011 at 11:22 am #1755361
Marc is essentially out.
Anyone have other leads?
Got a neighbor who's getting gassed?
Know anyone who works for Terminex?
(Terminex in California, as I think that is the only place gassing houses.)
Thanks.Jul 2, 2011 at 1:16 pm #1755399
@climber72Locale: At my desk
I wonder if Terminex might be willing to send a few out if you come up with a good story…
I might actually try and swing by one of their offices to ask about "donations"…
Heck, if you get the right CS person, they might be so amused by the whole UL thing that they would send them out on that strength alone!Jul 2, 2011 at 1:38 pm #1755406
"Anyone have other leads?"
What size are you looking for?
–B.G.–Jul 2, 2011 at 1:47 pm #1755409
12×24 would be the minimum.
Bigger would be ok, but not smaller.
The link I have says 24×36.
I know how to run with scissors.Jul 2, 2011 at 6:42 pm #1755492
I measured mine again, and they are 20"x40".
I could stuff four of them into an ordinary envelope, I suppose.

If you've got them to spare, I'll take them.
I'll be glad to cover cost, postage, etc.
