Dennis, are you aware that 5.11 tactical is now making their pants and their button front shirts in a quick dry nylon? I dont know if you would consider them “lightweight” in a backpacking sense of the word, but the pants are 7.4oz nylon, which is lighter than MARPAT pant material.
5.11 is also now producing their own version of under armour, and a VERY nice HRT boot.

Definitely looks like the new nylon 5.11 tactical pants are well designed. They finally put the spare magazine pouch on the left side. The cotton pants had it on the right side, which was not very practical.
