The combined weight of the OR shell mitts is 1.5oz- I use them in conjunction with the Patagonia liner gloves. The mitts are great because they give a lot more options on the trail. Use them with the liners if it is very cold, rainy or snowy. You can use them by himself in the rain and you can use the Mitts if you are in BUG country which is my primary reason why I take them into the backcountry. The OR Outer Shell Mitts are great multi-use piece of gear.
