No, not the stuff you get in your emails.

We often dehydrate Spam for our hiking trips. It dehydrates and rehydrates really nicely when chopped into small bite-size peices. You can get reduced salt Spam, or Turkey Spam (lower in fat) etc…

Be careful with this stuff if you have pets…the smell drives them crazy as they seem to think you've just opened a can of pet food for them!

Lower salt and lower fat? Heresy–how can that be called Spam? The next thing you're going to tell us is it's not bright pink ;-)

I confess to trying Spam sushi in Hawaii, just so I could say I did it.

I wonder with the critters whether it's the smell or the ritual "slurp" noise it makes coming out of the can?

Along the same lines, I now see prosciutto bits in the store, which should liven up numerous dishes and last a long while (a little bit goes a long way). I'd keep it in an OP sack for critter control, since I'll bet a bear would smell it from the next county.

Well, actually, the Turkey Spam is a dull desert brown. I must read the ingredients to see if that is an intentional colour (ie food colouring) or is, HEAVEN FORBID, it's NATURAL colour.

I might have to make my own prosciutto bits as I doubt they will be available in NZ in the near future.

As for the critters wanting the Spam, it appears to be a real addiction as there is virtually nothing our cats or dog wouldn't do to get to it, even after it's dried. Makes great dog treats!

Dehydrated SPAM? Wow, another variety! I though I had seen it all with the "7 Variety SPAM Gift Pack" in Korea.

    Guess it's now **8**

In all seriousness, dehydrating SPAM is probably a pretty good way to add a little protine and calories to another pack of Ramin noodles.

Question on the result: once you dehydrate it, do you need to keep it cool or sealed?

"Question on the result: once you dehydrate it, do you need to keep it cool or sealed?"

Nope. Just make sure it's completely dry. We do ours overnight (which is overkill but easy). Usually do two cans at a time.

It adds a lot of protein and flavour to stuff like ramen, instant spuds, pasta or rice dishes, and extra fat too if you go with the origianl varieties, but generally a lot of salt to eat too often.

Are you serious about the 7 variety spam gift pack????? That's seriously wierd…
