At 1 pound 8 ounces, the Hyperlite Backpacker A-sym drops seven ounces off of the popular Ultralite Backpacker A-sym. According to Tom Hennessy, this gets the Hyperlite very close to the 1 pound 4 ounce Light Racer A-sym hammock without the issues of shelter durability that come with his adventure racing-only models. The weight reduction is made through the use of lighter 1.1 ounce uncoated 30D nylon for the hammock and 1.3 ounce 30D silnylon for the fly.
