Garmin Geko 201/301 GPS REVIEW

The Garmin Geko 301 is light, fast, reliable, and easy to use. It has most functions an ultralighter wants. It excludes most functions you don't want (like sluggish, frustrating, power consuming and almost useless GPS loaded maps). Heavier GPS units with built in mapping and a ton of other stuff you don't want or need can cost $500 to $600 or more: the 301 is good value. Compared to wrist-mounted GPS units with similar functions, the Geko 301 is $500+ cheaper (MSRP). The benefits of a GPS watch include a smaller size and some continuously readable information, but the Garmin Geko 301 has much better GPS reception, is significantly easier to operate, has much longer battery life, and the batteries are field replaceable.
