    (4.5 oz including tent skewer)

For a short trip, ground coffee sealed in Dazey bags keeps perfectly. But 2 weeks stretches it, and 4 weeks intolerable. Thought of giving up coffee (fuel savings too) but that plan isn't going well. So I need a grinder. Budget: 4 oz. Missed the mark by 0.2 oz. It was a very easy modification of Traveler 2 coffee grinder.
    1. Unscrew parts.
    2. Cut plastic, leaving only essential (less than 1 inch) portion that holds mill together.
    3. Cut shaft and drill hole.
    4. Use titanium tent skewer for crank.

Note: No fine grinding. The top shaft guide is gone, mill binds unless you loosen to a coarse grind. Relatively long shaft is good, keeps you from hitting your hand as you crank. You might prefer to leave more hopper plastic. I wanted 4 oz, and am going to form part of the hopper with my hand, but beans pop out as I grind.

    good idea, fresher the better.

Use a plastic nylon washer inserted over the shaft and let it go down to where your thumb and forefinger forms the containment top. Grasp the washer with thumb and forefinger to form a lid to keep beans inside.
