Thanks for the clarification!
I know the new 550's come with lids that fit. Just so everyone knows, do the old 500's have lids that fit properly now as well?
Lucky you, Addie, you now have four different sets of pots/specs/webpages/orders to track! :)
Aug 9, 2007 at 1:25 pm #1397915Yes, lids are all correct. Anyone getting an ill fitting lid is the anomaly, not the rule, since we replaced them all (and are in the process of replacing all from previous orders). Thanks for helping me clarify!

Thank you for clarifying all of this. I also appreciate the coupon….which I of course just took advantage of!
Thanks again!

Aug 9, 2007 at 3:40 pm #1397939The current Caldera Cone sold at AGG states that it fits the 500. It fits my pot perfectly. My pot is the 550 (printed on the side) and measures correctly for a 550.
I'm betting FL was low bidder on this project!
Confused yet?
Aug 9, 2007 at 4:35 pm #1397950Has anyone seen both the old version and the new version? I'm undecided as to whether I should keep the "old" version I have or return it and get the "new" one. Pros of getting the new one include lighter weight and more volume. The con is apparently reduced durability (according to Ben). Any insights would be appreciated.

Aug 10, 2007 at 7:18 am #1398016Um, yeah, a little bit. I'm tough though. :)
Aug 10, 2007 at 10:28 am #1398041I have 2 Firelite pots bought 2 months apart.
The first pot was ordered on 7-3-07:
It is marked on the side of the pot as a Firelite 550?
Dimensions are: 3.76 avg. O.D. x 3.25 H
The 2nd pot was ordered on 8-03-07:
Dimensions are: 3.72 avg.O.D. X 2.8 H (Current BPL specs. are accurate.)
Filled with 16oz of water, the waterlines are approx. btwn 3/8"-5/8"" below the rim/top of the pot
Pots were measured with a Mitutoyo 8" digital caliper.
Aug 10, 2007 at 10:38 am #1398042Hi Mike – sounds like you have the FireLite 550 and the 500. The 500 is the one you got second. Hope this helps!
AddieAug 10, 2007 at 10:41 am #1398044Thanks Addie, just wanted to comment that your current specs are correct for the 500 pot.
I assume the 550 is discontinued? Not a real big difference btwn. the 2 pots

>Dimensions are: 3.72 avg.O.D. X 2.8 H (Current BPL specs. are accurate.)The BPL specs list the dimensions of the 500 as 3.75 h and 2.75 diameter. The reverse of what Michael posted. Which is correct?
Thanks,
niaAug 10, 2007 at 1:31 pm #1398063My specs are correct at 2.80 H x 3.72 0.D. So, I believe BPL just has the dia. and height listed backwards?
Aug 11, 2007 at 3:28 am #1398134I just received my SUL-Firelite 500 pot (550 on pot) which was brought back from the US by an American friend.
The lid fitted ok, the top of the pot was a little bit out of round but a bit of squeezing sorted that out, but over all my first impressions are good. I can’t wait to try it.
This is for the metric forum readers.
The pot and lid weighed in on my scales at 53.2 g
The pot alone weighed 40.2 g
The lid weighed in at 13.0 gThe diameter inside at top (ID) measured 95 mm
Base diameter outside (OD) measured 94.6 mmHeight with lid 80 mm
Height without lid 79.3 mmTony
Aug 15, 2007 at 3:40 pm #1398736Hey all – the FireLite 500s are now on close out, and the FireLite 550s are up and running. The coupon mentioned above no longer applies, as they are now under the umbrella of the closeout coupon. Thanks!
Edit
Aug 15, 2007 at 6:06 pm #1398753Hey Addie,
On the phone this morning I bet you that I'd probably know before you did when the 550s were online because I check the gear shop every 5 min. but you beat me to it! ;) I owe you a Coke! Anyway, I ordered mine as soon as I saw it was online. Thanks again for your help. I can't wait to see the 500 and 550 side by side. -JasonJan 15, 2008 at 10:38 am #1416201I searched and couldn't find an answer so here goes…
Are the 550's with the handle going to be in stock anytime soon?
ThanksJan 15, 2008 at 1:50 pm #1416235Yes, they are going to be in stock again. I'm not certain when, but they are definitely a product we are carrying in the future!
Thanks,
Addie -
