"Too big to fail" seemed slanted to me and omitted some important talking points.
"Siege of Firebase Gloria" was a worthy attempt but suffered from horrible acting.
"Hamburger Hill" Same as above.
"The Thing" 2011 version sucked compared to the first two which are classics imo.
"Gettysburg" I loved reading Killer Angels and was really disappointed with this movie. With the caliber of actors, they didn't deliver imo. With that said, I think Jeff Daniels monologue as Col Chamberlain was fantastic. Don't know that I'd call it pretentious drivel but it fell far short.
"The Patriot" Again, a movie that could have been much better but fell short.Dec 14, 2013 at 7:19 pm #2054349
I haven't watch any of those Ian. I knew better. lol!

I have to give him credit for Sixth Sense. I thought that was a pretty good movie.Dec 15, 2013 at 4:20 pm #2054580
"I have to give him credit for Sixth Sense."
Then you weren't paying attention.
No recovery scene post shooting. Never changed clothes. What about the wife and the table in front of the door?
No interaction with anyone other than the child.

Humbug. Sixth Sense was a very good movie – well paced, well acted and well written.
Agree about much of the rest of his work though. But that's what happens when you do your best first, it's all downhill from there.Dec 15, 2013 at 6:07 pm #2054614
Dang tough critic!
Well all those clues seemed so obvious the second time but I missed it the first time around. I did catch the red doorknobs & such and realize that there was some significance but the ending blew me away.Dec 15, 2013 at 8:20 pm #2054646
Everyone has an opinion. And it is great that we don't all agree all the time. That would be boring!
Does Doug have any titles he wants to add?

I actually enjoy watching Crimson Tide in a typical corny hollywood movie-way… probably not for the reasons the director intended…
The same goes for "Men of Honor".
No one can make patriotic movies like Hollywood :-D
