Sep 22, 2013 at 9:37 am #2026938I really like this tarp and foresee myself buying one of them. It's simple, adaptable, and fairly light. Dig it!!!
I really like translations for names/items, so with that…
My favorite:
Borah Novo
Latin for "change"Borah Siccus
Latin for "dry"Borah Pluvia
Latin for "rain"Sep 22, 2013 at 10:04 am #2026945mine

Sep 22, 2013 at 10:39 pm #2027201Hello, to everyone that participated.
The "NAME THAT TARP" is now officially closed for posting names.
A big thank you for everyone that joined in, it's been really fun to watch this thread grow, we had a total of 256 names, if my math is correct.
The response was overwhelming, we appreciate everyones contribution, and we do have a winner, it wasn't easy with all the names to choose from, but here we go, "DRUM ROLL PLEASE"
And the winner of the New Tarp Design goes to:
Dale Wambaugh
for coming up with the name "Borahgami"
John should have this posted on the web site borahgear.com by this coming week for anyone else that may be interested in buying one.
Stayed tuned for more from Borahgear, as we are working on some new projects.
Again, thank you everyone for your participation, this has been a blast!
Thanks, John & Jack at Borahgear
Sep 22, 2013 at 10:49 pm #2027205Great choice, that one was simple and clever. Well done, Dale!
Sep 23, 2013 at 7:40 am #2027261I like that name the best, too.
Good job, Dale!
Sep 23, 2013 at 8:35 am #2027280Definitely a good fit. Congrats Dale!
Sep 23, 2013 at 9:14 am #2027290Thanks, Jack! I'm looking forward to trying it out on a Fall trip. It fits a hole in my shelter collection and is much a appreciated.
Sep 23, 2013 at 9:19 am #2027291AnonymousInactiveCongrats Dale, glad it went to a nice guy like yourself.
Sep 23, 2013 at 9:35 am #2027295Way to go, Dale. I like that tarp's new name too.
Sep 23, 2013 at 7:10 pm #2027520Congratulations Dale. I just saw that on Borah's home page, checking out pack volumes.
DuaneSep 23, 2013 at 7:16 pm #2027523I knew Borahgami was a winner when I saw it.
Looking foward to a review.
Sep 25, 2013 at 10:14 am #2028115Now that the name is settled for it, can we get some more details on it…
I'd love to see some of the basic dimensions with the most traditional pitch(length, width, peak height)…
Also details on the fabric used and tie out locations perhaps!
Thank you!Sep 26, 2013 at 6:16 pm #2028692Hi Jesse,
Sorry for the slow response, I've been trying to catch up on things around the house and at work.
As soon as I get the next Borahgami finished I can get those measurements for you, let me know what configuration you would like me to measure.
Right now when the tarp is laid flat it measures 8' x 7 1/2', this would be just the portion of the tarp without the wings, minimum peak height was 34" set up in storm mode, but that can be adjusted with how high you want to set the tarp off the ground, so if you rasied it 3-4" that would change the peak height to around 37-38"
If you use the tie outs on the wings in storm mode that will get you about another 6" at each end.
The tie outs are located at the 90* point where the door would close (at the top were the ridge line is at)a tie out on each wing tip and a tie out between the wing tip and the corner tie out, one at each corner of the tarp as it is in storm mode, and then one on each side in the middle along the bottom, plus 2 pull outs one on each side that are in the middle of each pannel, these are put on with silicone adhesive then the tie outs are sewed on to those.
The material used is silnylon 30D from Noah Lamports
I hope this answers some of your questions.
12 tie outs total around the perimeter with 2 pull outs one on each side.
Jack
