Aug 15, 2013 at 12:31 pm #2015556I bet these are the latest VERY POOR CHOICE FOR UL BACKPACKING DO TO THEIR DRAMATICALLY REDUCED BREATHABILITY!You can read Richard Nisley's report here .
Aug 15, 2013 at 1:07 pm #2015569Some retailers have lower prices on some sale products than the Patagonia site..IE, Backcountry.com. Look around and maybe save even more.
Aug 17, 2013 at 6:09 am #2016053Annapurna is right. After I exchanged an email with Patagonia CS they confirm
that Houdini on sale is their newest LESS BREATHABLE fabrics…Cheers!

Aug 17, 2013 at 7:22 am #2016069Cheers Rog for that, now I know I have an old and new one, I used the newer one for a week in Scotland in May and found the breathability ok, it was 35f and very windy most days, it held up well in heavy rain showers.
Aug 17, 2013 at 7:53 am #2016077The newer one is 9g lighter and will not fit in to the stow pocket.

Aug 17, 2013 at 1:24 pm #2016146Hi Rog,
I will indeed hold on to the old one :-) the only thing is elastic on the arm opening was far too wide so I cinched them up with a few stitches.
I was supposed to go to Colorado at the end of September, but put it off until the start of November as going to Arizona and back to Ireland a few weeks after, Simon also has go go.to Asia with work.
Aug 21, 2013 at 4:38 pm #2017414Just wanted to give everyone a heads up, I looked a few of the capilene (which I really like and at 50% couldn't resist)and my sizes were sold out so I called the 800 # and they looked up a store near me who honored the pricing and the free shipping.
At those prices I was happy to stock up a bit on some base layers that are comfortable and work well for me. Good Luck!
