I'm looking for the lightest visor (headgear) that's out there, maybe something 1.0 oz or below? Suggestions?
Jul 3, 2013 at 3:05 pm #2002198Party stores have really light ones as party favors. I found this one in a thrift store. It weighs all of 0.35oz/11g and is made with foam.
You can download a pattern here and make your own:

Well if its serious we should take it that way and adress what you are really looking for in a visor.
what kind of features would you like in your visor?
water proof? you going to wear it under your hood
UV rating? how sun proof do you want it
what size bill? how much coverage would you like
color? bright colors are safer
durability? are you going to bushwack with it
weight limit 1.0 oz
hard bill or soft bill? are you going to put it in your pocket
adjustable fitted or elastic? fitted weighs less
With out the above I cant see a way anyone could properly advise you on what visor to purchase.

Jul 3, 2013 at 6:32 pm #2002295David,
I just picked up a Nike Featherlite Visor. Weighs 40g (1.41oz) cost $20
It is pretty slick and I am not sure there is one out there that's much lighter.?Jul 3, 2013 at 8:32 pm #2002321I use the party store one. Cost like $2 and works really well for that and other things along with a bandana.
Jul 3, 2013 at 10:11 pm #2002338I think you can get it down to 0.1 oz if you just drill enough holes in it.
Jul 7, 2013 at 2:36 pm #2003441My local dollar store has 3 or 5/$1.00 foam visors, something like that. They weigh almost nothing. No protection for top of head or ears, though.
KellyJul 7, 2013 at 7:49 pm #2003568I've been using a foam visor for biking over the last several years. They fit well under a helmet. I used it once for snow shoeing when I didn't have shade for my eyes. I had gotten mine at Walmart and it is thicker foam than what is used in those at the dollar store, or at least the ones I see at my local dollar stores.
