Hey all!
So I recently moved to eastern AZ, and have been loving it…lots of great outdoors stuff and some small backpacking trips. I am gonna be getting some time off in the next month or so and I want to do a trip up to either Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks for a 3-4 day backpacking trip. Does anyone have suggestions on places to go? I like to do no more than 10 miles days, and enjoy off trail hiking. Any suggestions??
THANKS!!!

Jun 18, 2013 at 11:38 am #1997727It would be beneficial to take a look at the Zion Traverse. If you google it you will most likely come with some ultra running races and stuff, but it is awesome to backpack. Good distance for 3-4 days and Zion is seriously breathtaking. Some of the views are astonishing, namely Angels Landing.
Bryce is also beautiful, but I have not been there myself (only drooled over pictures). I have however been to Zion and cant wait to go back.
Just be sure to check with the backcountry permit desk at the park. You need to get permits from them to do the hike (should not be an issue as they reserve some for walk-ups if my memory serves me).

The Trans Zion is 48 miles, so a bit long by your specs & also difficult logistics (point to point). But certainly a great route!
You can do a cool link-up in Bryce, 39 miles & super scenic. I think easy thumb shuttle:
