I am not knowledgeable about cryptosporidium. I know that Aqua Mira, for example, recommends a double dosage and double wait time if cryptosporidium contamination is suspected. My question is: where and when should I suspect cryptosporidium contamination?

Suspect water downstream of persistent human habitation and livestock pens. Symptoms appear after about five days and last another week, after which recovery will occur (absent a compromised immune system) without treatment, which is good because there is no treatment.
