sorry if this is an oft-discussed topic, but was just wondering if there is any interesting light-weight experiments with the old tube tent concept? thanks in advance.

My only gripe with tube tents is they are such a regional product, i.e., they work pretty well with the predictable 2 o'clock in the afternoon Sierra summer thundershower and they work really poorly in the Pacific Northwest. As you might imply I moved from being based in the Sierras to the Cascades and just have a tent envy complex. I can't even imagine using a tube tent in the Olympics. -
