if a compass is not listed on a gear list, I have no thoughts

For overnight this is good, and you can probably skip aqua pure and just drink water in the off chance your filer clogs. John's right though, even when I know the area well I like to have a map and compass. If nothing else you can help others out on the trail.

I do have both a map and a compass in what I call my medical bag.. / misc bag, however I did not list the complete contents of that bag in this post. Can you clarify what you mean by good for overnight? This is what I take for 3 days not 1 Day / night. I have around 6 pounds of food but have carried up to 9-10 pounds on 5 day trips. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks

Only that a short trip would not really require any backup water treatment plan. Three days probably as well. I think your list could do a thru-hike. It's well thought out and has lots of nice pieces. Have fun.

Thanks for the feedback. None of the guys I hike with pack with gear weight in mind. They are about 100 percent comfort and have packs over 40 – 50 lbs on most hikes. They think I am irresponsible and have even said that my setup is dangerous so it is nice to get feedback from another UL hiker.
