Good news for us bay area people. Yes 120 would be more ideal but this works for me to access the eastern sierra. saves the $20 pass through fee too.
This highway information is the latest reported as of Friday, April 26, 2013 at 19:51 .
SR 108
[IN THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA AREA & SIERRA NEVADA]
NO TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS ARE REPORTED FOR THIS AREA.Apr 26, 2013 at 8:02 pm #1980934Just kidding.
It's just that many forest roads in the PNW will be snow-covered until June, so I don't like you guys in CA very much.
Apr 26, 2013 at 8:05 pm #1980936101 and I-5 are all you need Steven. They both head south.
Snow is almost gone everywhere here.
Apr 26, 2013 at 8:46 pm #1980944Going to be a dry summer…

Apr 27, 2013 at 5:25 pm #1981145If we chant, maybe they will open Tioga Pass as well.
For our distant forum members, these are the various mountain highway passes in the Sierra Nevada Range of California. They are closed for the winter months and then eventually open in the late spring. They tend to restrict our travel from the populated side on the west to the mostly unpopulated side on the east.

Apr 27, 2013 at 8:48 pm #1981202The SF Chronicle had an article about Tioga Pass a couple of weeks ago predicting the pass would open on May 11.
Apr 28, 2013 at 3:06 pm #1981365Here's Tom Stienstra this morning talking about Sierra highway openings.

Apr 18, 2014 at 5:40 pm #2094450rex, all posts before my last were from last year. I just rebumped it cus its amazing its open even earlier than last. These roads usually open around memorial day weekend..
Apr 20, 2014 at 10:55 am #2094783My bad, sorry.
Good news: the roads are opening early. Bad news: the roads are opening early in the third year of drought due to lack of snow.
Although some of the most popular rivers will be running pretty well this year:
