I have an uncle who lives in Albuquerque, NM and it looks like I'll be visiting him in early August. He mentioned the Sangre de Christo mountains as somewhere I could go backpacking for a few days. Since I have no experience outside of CA I'm looking for some trails, websites, info or books that I should check out. I'm looking for a 2-4 day, 20-40 mile trip.

13k ft mtns, above treeline, alpine lakes, big horn sheep and plenty of places that feel isolated.
This is a nice loop I did two years ago that is about the right mileage for what you want:
