Are the spray deck Alpacka Packrafts that BPL is carrying, the 2006 or the 2007 spray deck models? There is a difference in attachment and weight.

    hey ryan –

have you flipped one of these with the integrated spraydeck?

    how hard is the exit?

i have a favorite class 3 river nearby with decent fishing for good sized trout, but the run has a couple chute type (no way around 'cept portage) class 3 rapids with kinda mean hydraulics after & the hyraulics push up against rockage (you see where i'm going with this right)

    thanks!

As it turns out, the spraydeck is essential for running whitewater, otherwise the boat will swamp. An Alpacka full of water is no longer a seaworthy craft, and lacking a keel can be difficult to maneuver through rough water to shore in order to bilge.

Alpacka rafts can be a lot of fun, and can add a whole new dimension to the backcountry experience. They also possess the unfamiliar power to put backpackers onto obscure water where downstream conditions are a complete unknown. Please be careful out there. Use the Force, but use it wisely.
