Wonderful read by Roger Ebert: I do not fear death
Apr 6, 2013 at 7:32 pm #1973546Thank you, Doug – that is wonderful. Reinforces my deep admiration for the man, and gives voice to some feelings I've had since a recent death in the family.
Apr 6, 2013 at 7:44 pm #1973552I really liked reading this. Hadn't seen it before. Thanks for posting it.
A line early in the article summarizes my current philosophy better than I could:
"I was perfectly content before I was born, and I think of death as the same state"
This allows me to appreciate life as a gift and see death as a simple returning to the status quo.
He says he is 69 in the article so he must have written it a year or so ago? Didn't see a date.

It's from his book "Life Itself: A Memoir," which was published in Sept. 2012.
