Ready to make a SilNyl tarp and need suggestions on thread. I use polyester for stuff sacks and thing but what size and type for tarp?
I am going to make a "penta tarp" 5 triangles sewn together. Has anyone else tried this or have suggestions?

I've used this previously from DIY Gear Supply (now backwoodsdaydreamer.com) and have had great success, Gutermann Mara 70 Tex 40, anything 100% polyester (I stay away from the coat and clark thread from wallyworld).

The silnylon on their website is also some of the cheapest cost and I've had excellent results, great customer service. As far as which seams to use, check out there DIY Guide on that website as well. Much like others have said, pending which machine you're using, with Silnylon and any other slippery fabric a roller presser foot doesn't hurt if you aren't the best on a sewing machine yet.

As far as guides to help, use the search tool as there are tons of articles on it.

    Good Luck,
    Jon
