A heads-up for those who want a UL toothpaste solution without making their own toothpaste pellets/using baking powder/Dr B's: Toothy Tabs! These are toothpaste mini tablets available in a large number of countries from the store Lush, and come in a number of flavours. I've tried the 'Dirty' (mint) one, which had a distinctly soapy/baking powdery taste which I didn't love, but worked really, really well. Link here:

Also, a heads up for those in the Antipodes, and wherever else 'V' energy drink is sold: if you can still find the limited edition 710ml closable cans, they are SUPER lightweight, and could be handy for backpacking. They seem to be single-wall ultrathin aluminium, so they're pretty fragile, but I imagine you could use them as a pot or drink bottle. Also, since they have a lid, there's the possibility of using them as a hot water bottle. Will try it out sometime! (Has anyone tried this yet?) Link here:
