I've got the same cabelas rod and have been very happy with it.
I'm trying to replace the frying pan with a stainless mesh cut to fit the thermojet stove. It weighs 14 grams. I'm going to try it out in a couple of days in desolation wilderness. Hopefully it won't stick too much.

The sample size is more than enough for the small grill.

They make a BBQ grill out of light weight rods and tubes. You could grill your catch as long as fires are allowed. Leave the frypan at home and save weight.
