It took a while to find a good bargain, but today I ordered a Nesco American Harvest FD-75PR 700-Watt Food Dehydrator
amazon.com
cost: $54.51 with free shippingMy new hiking food strategy is to dehydrate most of my meals.
I got Sarah's Freezer Bag Cooking book (160 recipes)
http://www.freezerbagcooking.comApr 5, 2007 at 9:55 am #1384929That is a good dehydrator :-) You will have fun! And if you don't have any, go get a box of parchment paper from the grocery store. You can cut circles to fit the trays-and it reusable. Btw, I have been doing more dehydrating info on my website, under the Gear section. Lots of pictorials on how to dry stuff!
And best of all? If you dehydrate full meals (lets say you have leftovers at dinner time) those meals can be done in a freezer bag on the trail!
